Makhado Mayor launches Senior Traditional Leaders Consultative Forum

Makhado Mayor launches Senior Traditional Leaders Consultative Forum

In a significant step towards fostering collaboration between traditional leadership and municipal governance, Makhado Mayor, Her Worship Cllr Dorcus Mboyi, officially launched the Makhado Senior Traditional Leaders Consultative Forum on Tuesday, 19 November 2024. The forum aims to provide a platform for improved coordination and enhanced service delivery within the municipality.

Mayor Mboyi expressed her enthusiasm for the forum’s creation, highlighting the essential role that traditional leaders play in community development. “I am honoured to witness the formation of a forum that brings together leaders with such immense wisdom. As a municipality, we cannot fully succeed without the guidance of our traditional leaders. Our community will undoubtedly benefit from the strong working relationship we are fostering with them,” Mayor Mboyi said.

The Mayor further explained that the forum is part of ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between municipal authorities and traditional leaders. “We have come together to ensure that the municipality and traditional leadership work in harmony, coordinating a thoughtful and effective approach to service delivery,” she added.

The establishment of the forum was warmly welcomed by senior traditional leaders, who expressed their strong support for the initiative. Thovhele vho Vele Kutama, one of the senior traditional leaders in attendance, emphasised the potential impact of this collaboration. “We fully support this initiative and believe that, together, we can accelerate the delivery of much-needed services to our people,” Thovhele Kutama said.

The forum is expected to play a vital role in aligning the goals of municipal governance with the priorities of local traditional leadership, ensuring that residents benefit from more efficient and culturally responsive services.

This partnership between the municipality and traditional authorities marks a new chapter in Makhado, one that promises to enhance the well-being of the community through shared knowledge and mutual respect.
