Makhado Local Municipality successfully hosted the South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) Regional Wellness Day at Eltivillas Sports Ground on 24 July 2026, bringing together employees from nine municipalities for a day of sport, wellness and camaraderie.

As host, Makhado Municipality ensured the successful coordination of the event while also delivering an outstanding performance on the field. The Municipality won gold medals in the 100m race, Tug of War, Volleyball and Netball, and was further honoured with the Best Organiser Award in recognition of the excellent planning and execution of the event.

Makhado Municipality’s SAMWU Secretary, Mr Tsanwani Raduvha, commended everyone who contributed to the success of the event.

"We are proud to have successfully hosted this year’s Regional Wellness Day and equally proud of our employees for representing the Municipality with excellence. These achievements demonstrate the value of teamwork, discipline and employee wellness, and we congratulate all the winners for making Makhado Municipality proud," said Raduvha.

Makhado Local Municipality Mayor, Her Worship Cllr Dorcus Mboyi, congratulated the organisers and participants for making the event a resounding success.

"Hosting the SAMWU Regional Wellness Day was an honour for Makhado Municipality. The successful organisation of this event, coupled with the outstanding performance of our employees, reflects our commitment to employee wellness and teamwork. The successful hosting of the Regional Wellness Day reaffirmed Makhado Municipality’s commitment to promoting employee wellness, teamwork and a healthy workplace culture while strengthening relationships with neighbouring municipalities.
