A NEW CHAPTER OF RELIABLE ELECTRICITY FOR TSHIFHIRE, KHUNDA, MATSHAVHAWE

A NEW CHAPTER OF RELIABLE ELECTRICITY FOR TSHIFHIRE, KHUNDA, MATSHAVHAWE

Makhado Local Municipality Mayor, Her Worship Cllr Dorcus Mboyi, 11 August 2026, energised the newly constructed electricity line serving Tshifhire, Witvlag, Khunda and Matshavhawe, marking a major milestone in improving electricity reliability in the area.

The Mayor was accompanied by members of the Executive Committee and the municipal administrative management led by Municipal Manager Mr Kent Nemaname.

The new line completes a ring network designed to minimise the duration of power interruptions. Communities previously experienced frequent outages, sometimes lasting three to four days, due to challenges along the mountainous Tshifhire radial line. The new infrastructure is expected to reduce such interruptions to hours rather than days.

"Today is more than energising a new electricity line; it is about energising hope and development. Our communities have endured constant power interruptions for too long. This intervention demonstrates our commitment to reliable service delivery and will improve education, safety, economic activity and the quality of life of our people," said Mayor Mboyi.

The Mayor stressed that the energisation is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a new chapter, with the Municipality committed to protecting and maintaining the infrastructure for the benefit of communities for years to come.”
