MAKHADO MUNICIPALITY'S STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION A HUGE SUCCESS

In an effort to plan the delivery of services to the people, Makhado Local Municipality recently engaged in a Strategic Planning Session that took apalace at Zebula Golf Estate & Spa from the Monday the 5th to Wednesday the7th of March 2018.

The Strategic Plan outlined medium and long term development priorities in line with the IDP and National Development Plan.

Addressing the session Makhado Mayor Cllr Shonisani Sinyosi said that municipal leadership must work together with, sector departments, civil society and business stakeholders to fast track service delivery and prioritise water and sanitation ; electricity, water infra structure. "This must be done to seize opportunities presented by the Special Economic Zone," she said.


MAKHADO PMT WELCOMES THE NEWLY APPOINTED MUNICIPAL MANAGER

Makhado Municipality Mayor Her Worship Cllr Shonisani Mildred Sinyosi officially welcomed the newly appointed Municipal Manager of the Municipality. This comes after the council has recently appointed Mr Nnyadzeni Freddy Tshivhengwa as the new Municipal Manager of Makhado Municipality with effect from the 1st of December 2017.

Welcoming the new Municipal Manager Mayor Sinyosi said that: “I believe that the new Municipal Manager will place Makhado on a renewed path of growth, development and prosperity.”
She added that the municipality do not only want to achieve a clean audit, but ensures that “our service delivery performance scorecard matches our clean and accountable record keeping and management”
Tshivhengwa is the former General Manager for Technical Services at Vhembe District Municipality. He also worked as General Manager for Capital Investment and Infrastructure Development at City of Johannesburg under Johannesburg Water.


Tshivhengwa said that he will work hard towards improving audit performance of the municipality. “I am quite sure that we are going to achieve a clean audit,” he said. Tshivhengwa is a qualified engineer who holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering.


NEW SPORT FACILITY FOR WATERVAL TOWNSHIP

There was joy when Makhado Municipality Mayor Cllr Shonisani Mildred Sinyosi officially handed-over the newly constructed Waterval Sports Facility. Speaking during the official handing –over of the facility at Waterval Township outside Elim Mayor Sinyosi urged residents to take good care of the facility. “You must take care of the sports facility and all government properties,” she said, adding that residents must refrain from vandalizing government properties.

She said that: “Makhado Municipality is committed to render quality services to the residents of Makhado.”

The facility is comprised of Tennis, basketball, Volleyball and Netball courts. “Young people must refrain from engaging in alcohol and drug abuse and engage in sporting activities,” said Mayor Sinyosi. She added that young people must also consider taking sports as a career. Residents also expressed their excitement following the handing-over of the facility.


WARD 6 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROGRAMME A HUGE SUCCESS

The Speaker of Makhado Municipality Cllr Lindiwe Mogale recently visited Ward 6 at Tshiozwi Tribal Office as part of her Public Participation Programme. She interacted with members of the community on service delivery issues. Ward 6 Councillor Selinah Tambani gave service delivery report during the event. The Speaker will continue embarking on this kind of programme as part of a cross the municipality and she will be visiting all municipal wards interacting with residents on service delivery issues.

MAKHADO MUNICIPALITY WINS GREENEST MUNICIPALITY COMPETITION

Makhado Municipality scooped position one in the 2017 District Greenest Municipality Competition. The Municipality outclassed Musina, Lim345 and Thulamela Municipalities in the competition. It has been awarded a Trophy, Certificate and a Cheque of R30 000. The competition is run by Limpopo Department of Economic Development. Now the Municipality will represent the district at provincial level.

There was joy when Makhado Mayor Her Worship Cllr Shonisani Sinyosi officially re-opened the Makhado Public Library on Monday the 21st of August 2017. This comes after the Library had been closed for renovations as the roof was leaking. The Mayor said that:"As Makhado Municipality we would like to apologise to our library users who showed their patiance and cooperation during the renovation."

She added that the renovations were very important as the books were being damaged by water during rainy seasons. "We wish all our users all the best in their on coming exams," said Mayor Sinyosi. The Library had been closed for 2 months following the renovations. Library users were over the moon following the re-opening.


POTHOLES WILL SOON BE A THING OF THE PAST IN MAKHADO TOWN

Potholes in the Makhado Town will soon be a thing of the past. This were remarks by the Mayor of Makhado Municipality Her Worship Cllr Shonisani Mildred Sinyosi. This comes after the Municipality has recently set aside R3m to refurbish the streets both in Eltivillas and around town. Some of the streets that are currently under construction includes De Vaal, Hystek, 6th street and 3rd Avenue. "This is part of our turnaround strategy as the municipality," so said the Mayor. She added that: "We urge motorists to cooperate with engineers during this process."


MAYOR BUILT A HOUSE FOR A DESTITUTE FAMILY

Makhado Municipality Mayor Her Worship Cllr Shonisani Mildred Sinyosi recently handed over a 4-roomed well furnished house to the Munyayi family of Tshituni-Tshafhasi village in Nzhelele. This comes after the Mayor had promised to build a house to one poor family in her 100 days in office. Makwarela Phophi Munyayi (73) was sharing a one roomed house with her 47 year old son David. MAKHADO MAYORAL IMBIZO A HUGE SUCCESS

an effort to take service delivery to the people the Mayor of Makhado Municipality Her Worship Cllr Shonisani Sinyosi recently interacted with residents of Ravele Village in the Sinthumule area on service delivery issues. Members of the community were also afforded an opportunity to raise their service delivery concerns and also praise the municipality for quality services rendered to them.


MAKHADO MUNICIPALITY INJECTED MILIONS OF RANDS TO REFURBISH WATERVAL STADIUM

In efforts to encourage young people to engage in sports, Makhado Municipality Mayor Her Worship Cllr Shonisani Mildred Sinyosi has recently injected Millions of Rands to refurbish Waterval Stadium. The stadium will be comprised of Soccer pitch, Tennis, Volleyball and Basketball Courts which according to the local residents is a major boost to the local sports. Officially launching the project, the Mayor said that young people must refrain from engaging in crime and focus in sports. "In Makhado we donot want to see young people lingering on the streets.


MUDIMELI VILLAGE TO GET NEW BRIDGE
Makhado Municipality Mayor Her Worship Cllr Shonisani Sinyosi officially launched a project to construct Mudimeli Bridge in the village today. Launching the project Mayor Sinyosi urged the contractor to deliver quality work. "We need to see value for money. This is Tax payers money and it must be used for a good course. We need quality bridge for the people," said Sinyosi. She warned residents not to vandalise government property. "We do not want to see residents burning tires on this bridge. Let us respect and protect government property," added the Mayor.

FOOD PARCELS FOR DISASTER VICTIMS
Mayor of Makhado Municipality Her Worship Cllr Shonisani Sinyosi and the Executive Mayor of Vhembe District Municipality Her Worship Cllr Florence Radzilani recently handed food parcels, blankets and tents to disaster victims in Waterval, Kutama and Dzanani areas of Makhado Municipality. This comes after about 305 families were left homeless without food following the storm. Red Cross was also touched by the plight of the affected community and offered a helping hand. They also donated food and blankets to the affected families
