The Mayor

Cllr Shonisani Mildred Sinyosi has been elected as a new Mayor for Makhado Local Municipality following the recent local government election. Cllr Sinyosi (53) was born at Ha-Rabali Village in the Dzanani area. She has served in the Makhado Municipal Council for many years in various portfolios. She started as a PR councillor and later appointed as a Portfolio Head of Corporate Services. Cllr Sinyosi was later given a responsibility to head Technical Services from 2012 to 2016 before her appointment as a Mayor. She is known for her active interaction with the community regarding the issues of roads; water and electricity. She also served as a member of Municipal Infrastructure Working Commiittee at SALGA for 5 years. Cllr Sinyosi has been a Regional Executive Committee Member of the African National Congress since October 2009 to date. She is also a Regional Working Committee (RWC) member. Cllr Sinyosi also served as a member of SADTU for a number of years. She has served as a secretary of the ANC at Zwavhumbwa branch for many years and also in several community structures. Cllr Sinyosi, a former teacher started her primary education at Rabali Primary School in 1970. She matriculated at George Mbulaheni High School in 1990. She also holds a Junior Primary Teachers Diploma from Tshisimani College of Education which she completed in 1994. She further completed a B-Tech in Educational Management at Technisa in 2001. Sinyosi also holds an Honours Degree in Educational Management which she completed in 2006 at UNISA. She also holds a Diploma in Executive Leadership Management from the University of Pretoria. She also received training in Municipal Financial Management last year. She started working as teacher at Schutedrift Combined School in the Tshipise area in 1994. She became an HOD at the school before she moved to Tshakhande Primary, where she was a Deputy Principal from 2009 until she resigned in 2011 to become a PR Councillor at the Makhado Council.
